The Federal Council is responsible for the recognition of schools. It delivers an opinion on parliamentary proposals.
In their host country, Swiss schools abroad receive assistance from the local Swiss representation to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
This support is reinforced from Switzerland by the Federal Department of Culture (BAK). For the performance of its tasks, the BAK is advised by the Education Committee for Swiss Abroad.
For their core task of providing high quality education, the Swiss schools abroad are assisted by their sponsor cantons.
