The Coordination Agency of the Committee for Swiss Schools Abroad (KSA) was founded in 1946 as a working community known as the "Aid committee for Swiss schools abroad". It was founded by the Committee for Swiss Abroad of the new Helvetic Society (now known as the Organisation of Swiss Abroad), and the Swiss Aid Foundation (now the Foundation for Young Swiss Persons Abroad).
Over the years, the coordination agency has accepted increasingly extensive tasks in the interest of the schools. The activity of the KSA is based partly on explicit and partly on implicit mandates. It is determined also by manifest political, economic and administrative requirements.
The primary task is to represent the interests of the Swiss schools abroad in relation to the public, economy and authorities in Switzerland.
Another important task is the organisation and contact of the annual three-day conference of Swiss schools abroad.
